FEATUREPin-up Star to Land BaronessFEATURE

Former gal pal of Howard Hughes, Gloria Pall is selling land in the California Chocolate Mountains, but there is much more to Ms. Pall than the property she has on our site.

Growing up in the midst of World War II, Pall worked as an aircraft mechanic. In 1947, she entered and won a beauty contest, which opened many doors for her into the modeling world. Pall became a famous pin-up girl, gracing the covers of hundreds of magazines worldwide. She also worked as a showgirl in Reno and Las Vegas.

Along the way, Pall had run-ins with some very famous celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Howard Hughes. On the set of Elvis' Jailhouse Rock video, a photographer snapped a picture of Elvis looking through Pall's legs as she was walking across the bar. This photo is still very well-known to this day.

Pall's connections with celebrities made her famous by association, but she really made a name for herself in 1954 when she created, wrote for, and starred in the TV show Voluptua. Voluptua was cancelled after 7 weeks, because as Pall explained, "They said it was too torrid for TV. It was corny, not porny, but the show still made national and international headlines."

Pall said she was always ahead of her time and Voluptua was just one example of that. She said, "I was walking around with low neckline dresses before they even designed them. I was told by a publicist that if! don't have a gimmick I should just go home. My gimmick was to cut my dresses very low and walk around that way."

Regarding her transformation from pin-up model and show girl to real estate agent, Pall explained, "In 1959 I was getting kind of old for what I was doing, and I figured I'd better do something else, so I got myself a real estate license."

·Pall ran a Lavender Real Estate office on Sunset Strip that drew many celebrities, including Howard Hughes. Hughes had first met Pall back when she was a show girl in Las Vegas. Pall said, "He wanted to meet me at the bar after the show and we got to talking about aviation. He was fascinated by my background working with planes. He couldn't believe this gorgeous blonde was sitting there next to him, and I could see a sign scrollig across his forehead saying, 'This bimbo has a brain!' He had a big smile on his face. He couldn't believe I had any knowledge about anything." Years later, when Pall opened her Real Estate office, Hughes used it to rent out houses to hide out his "starlets" in the hills.

Now, at 81, Pall says she still has it. "I'm thinking of doing a reality show," she said. "I have a lot of fans and admirers. I figure what would be better than me coming back on TV now that the world is open as far as how you can look. All the boobs are fake on the red carpet now. It would be novelty to have real ones like mine."

Meanwhile, her land in the Chocolate Mountains is still up for grabs. Of her past experience with us, Pall explained, "I've sold hundreds of acres in the Chocolate Mountains, and I thank Land and Farm for helping me with that."
